Cast Nylon / PA6

Cast Nylon (Cast PA6) is produced by the activated anionic cast polymerisation process. Unlike extruded nylon, which carries molecular chain orientation and residual stress from the extrusion die, the cast route yields a relaxed, isotropic microstructure with uniform properties in all directions — critical for large cross-sections where dimensional stability after machining is essential.

MK Industrial & Co.^® supplies Cast Nylon across several grades to suit different service conditions: Natural (general-purpose), Oil-filled (self-lubricating), ESD/Antistatic (static-dissipative), and Nylatron® GSM — a molybdenum disulphide (MoS₂) filled grade that reduces the friction coefficient to 0.10–0.15 against steel under dry conditions, roughly half that of unfilled cast PA6. This lets bearing and bushing applications made from Nylatron® GSM run without external lubrication for extended periods, reducing maintenance in harsh environments such as steel mills, sugar mills, and mining conveyors.

Nylatron® GSM also offers improved compressive strength, hardness, and wear resistance versus natural cast PA6, making it the preferred grade for gears, crane wheels, and slewing ring pads where long service life is critical.
